We had a fantastic day at the Clipper 2023/24 Round The World Race start event at Gunwharf Quays on 31 August (despite the wet conditions!) Sadly prior commitments meant we had to make do with being there for one day only…
This year we have been working with Clipper Ventures, who run the The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, to produce an exclusive Canvas Works bag range, made from decommissioned sails from their boats. The renowned Race is an extraordinary sailing event spanning over 40,000 nautical miles, which takes non-professional sailors on a challenging journey around the globe. Our resident Canvas Works expert, Pablo Madrid (@pablo-the-sailmaker), has designed a signature range of unique Clipper bags, which will be available to Clipper crew to buy next year.
As a Clipper stakeholder we were delighted to be invited to the Race Start event and we were happy to offer visitors to Gunwharf Quays the chance to make their very own Canvas Works bag. Or if canvas skills didn’t take their fancy, they could have a go at our 1 minute rowing challenge, for the chance to win a Canvas Works bespoke bag.
The staff team had a great time meeting visitors and telling them about our work, and we were delighted to meet the great man himself, when the legendary sailor and founder of the Clipper Race, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, dropped by to wish us well!
Good luck to all the brilliant Clipper crews as they take on their epic journeys!
