We were delighted to receive a visit from Tim from AkzoNobel (International Paint Ltd) on Monday 12 Oct, who presented us with a huge cheque for £1000, part of AkzoNobel’s support for local community projects. Tim had the chance to have a look at the work the students are doing in our boat building workshop and to have a chat with our apprentices to give them some expert tips and pointers.

Not only have AkzoNobel been super generous with the donation towards our running costs (purchasing tools and equipment to benefit the continued development of the students), but we are also looking forward to Tim and his colleagues from the Yacht RD&I (Research, Development and Innovation) team coming back to do some work with some of our students as they work on the paintwork for our OC16 skiff building project. To get in person coaching from professionals will give them fantastic experience and skills.

And on top of all that, they will be providing further in kind support with paint and materials. Big thanks to International Paint and AkzoNobel, this will all have a great impact on our students’ engagement and learning in the workshop.
