OARSOME COMMUNITY

AFTER SCHOOL & HOLIDAY ACTIVITY PROGRAMMES

The Oarsome Community programme delivers activities targeted at young people aged 11-16 years who are not currently accessing activities during out of school hours, due to barriers to engagement, such as Special Education Needs.

Oarsome Community delivers regular after school sessions during term time and half day sessions during school holidays working collaboratively with local community partners to ensure we are reaching young people not currently accessing holiday activities.

The Oarsome Community programme is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. With thanks to the NLCF and the players of the National Lottery for their support in helping us deliver this programme.

FOCUSING ON THE INDIVIDUAL

Echoing Oarsome Chance’s trauma aware educational programmes, Oarsome Community activity programmes blend a range of engaging activities alongside wellbeing support, all focused on individual needs.

Oarsome Chance's mission is to help young people Feel Safe, Belong and Achieve and this is at the heart of our Oarsome Community programme. Our model of checking in, listening and adapting to young people’s own expressed needs ensures Oarsome Community participants feel empowered and listened to.

COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Oarsome Chance has a collaborative approach with other agencies and local groups involved in the support of young people and we work closely with those partners to target those young people who will benefit most from accessing the Oarsome Community programmes.

By working alongside groups and organisations that already have an existing trusting relationship with young people, we are able to better support young people who otherwise might not be able to overcome barriers to engaging with out of school activities.
